His first employment was with the Town of Warren, Highway Department. He later acquired his own truck which he operated in construction of highways throughout the state. In Lynn, he worked two years with General Electric Corporation as Assistant Boring Mill Operator at their Lynn facility. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a sonar man aboard patrol craft in the Pacific and Asiatic Theaters. Following his military service, Mr. Clark returned to Lynn, and began a position with GE as Stockyard Manager. While living in Lynn, he enjoyed selling Christmas Trees during the holiday season.
In 1961, he returned to the Clark family homestead here, with his family. He continued employment at GE, commuting weekly until retiring in 1966 after 24 years employment with General Electric Corporation.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the American Legion Post 149, Waldoboro and the St. George Lodge of Masons.
Mr. Clark was pre-deceased by his daughter Nancy L. Clark in 1990, his wife in 2000, and his brother William Barrett Clark in 2003. He is survived by one son Philip A. Clark and his wife Elizabeth of Brunswick; a good friend whose company he has enjoyed over the last several years, Katherine "Kitty" Weaver of Warren; three grandchildren, Kristen E. Clark-Driscoll and her husband Daniel of Westbrook, CT, Lauren E. Richardson and her husband Michael of Lisbon Falls, Gretchen A. Clark of Los Angeles, CA; three great grandchildren, Daniel Driscoll, Evan Driscoll, Emily Richardson; two sisters-in-law, Muriel Anderson of Rockland and Norma Anderson of East Millinocket.
