She worked for many years as an operator for New England Telephone Company in Rockland, Framingham, Massachusetts and as an Operator Supervisor in Salem, Massachusetts. Esther later worked at Hawk's Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida as a PBX Operator. Most recently she was employed as a Switchboard Operator at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, retiring in July, 2005.
After having lived out of state for several years, Esther and her husband David returned to Maine and lived in Lincolnville for 25 years.
Esther and David moved back to Florida in 1993. Esther was not fond of Maine winters, so she thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine and warmth of the Keys. In 2003 they moved back to Maine to be near a newborn grandson.
She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Walter and Leon Jones, and a sister, Andrea Young. Esther is survived by her husband David, to whom she was married for 44 years; daughter, Cheri Conner and her husband Edward of Boca Raton Florida; son, Eric Allyn of Rockland; two brothers, Jim Jones and his wife Julie of Hope, Sam Jones and his wife Ronda of Lincolnville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
