He was a native of McBride, Miss. and had a been a resident of Jackson for the past 42 years. He was member of the Elraine Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Stegall Simmons of Jackson; five daughters, Mrs Billy McDaniel, Mrs. Charles Yelverton, Miss Emma Catherine Simmons all of Jackson, Mrs. Clyde McCorkle of Vaiden, Miss., and Mrs. Horace Waltman of Bellflower, California.; two sons, James Cecil Simmons of Jackson, and James McCoy of Vaiden, Miss.; one sister, Mrs. Baxter B Pridgen of Jackson; two brothers, Sam M. Simmons of Las Vegas, Nev., and twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Wm. Valentine conducting the services.
The active pallbearers are Van Cotton, Archie Ballard, Preston Sullivan, Robert Robertson, Kenneth Tucker, Fred Thomas, A. J. Swilley, and Ernest Braecher.
Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
