*** Lieutenant Hise, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Fighter Squadron 53, Carrier Air Wing 5 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS HANCOCK (CVA-19). On March 25, 1967, he was the pilot of a Vought Crusader Fighter (F-8E) an a non-combat flight off the coast of South Vietnam when his aircraft crashed into the sea. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
You may be gone, no longer living on this earth; but you will live on - in the memories of your family and friends. There will always be a part of you living in those who knew you. You will live on because we remember you!

I was going through some of my husband's old paper the other day and came across this pamphlet the USS Hancock published for James' memorial service. Just thought you might like to have the bio part.
One thing in his Find A Grave memorial page
that is "troubling" is the line where it states his tour of duty began Mar 25, 1967 as you can see in the bio, he reported to duty with VF-53 at NAS Miramar San Diego CA in December of 1964. You will also see that his brother was serving with him.
I will attach all 4 pages of the pamphlet.

***** Jim & I were roommates on his first tour in Viet Nam on the USS Ticonderoga 1965-1966. When he was killed on the Hancock, he had just made a perfect (OK-3) landing, but the wire broke. Jim ejected, but his chute did not have time to open. Although the most junior pilot in the squadron on his first tour, he was by far the best pilot. I will never forget him.
I must correct the statement that he was returning from a non-combat flight. Jim was most definitely returning from a combat flight.
