FREDONIA - Velma Irene Durham, 82, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Fredonia Regional Hospital.

She was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Buxton, the daughter of Charles W. and Nellie Allen Fiscus.

She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Helpful Neighbors.

On Sept. 19, 1936, she married Everett Lee Durham in Independence. He died Nov. 4, 1991.

Survivors include five sons, Lee of Fredonia, Lawrence of Berkley, Mass., Thomas of Fredonia, Steven of Toronto, and Russell of Independence; three daughters, Erma Whisman of Elverta, Ga., Esther Lakin of El Dorado, Elaine Hoffer of Puyullup, Wash.; a brother, Keith Fiscus, Joplin, Mo.; a sister, Alma Smith, Warsaw, Mo.; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Fredonia City Cemetery, led by the Rev. Earl Harris.

Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Fredonia Senior Citizens, Inc. and may be left with the funeral home.

Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia, is in charge of arrangements.
