RONCEVERTE — Leona J. Brown, 76, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, after a short illness.

Born April 18, 1932, at Ronceverte, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Ada Carnefix Massie.

Mrs. Brown was a lifelong resident of Ronceverte, member of the Ronceverte Christian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Lady Circle, choir, and was retired from ABB as an assembler in Lewisburg and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by parents, her husband, Horace Brown, in 1998; four sisters, Catherine Sams, Christine Campbell, Hazel VanBuren and Mildren Fisher; and eight brothers, Milton Massie, Frank Massie, Forrest Massie, Layton Massie, Claude Massie, James Massie, Dick Massie and Robert Massie.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Rudd of Ronceverte, Phyllis Brown of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Cindy White and husband, Tim, of Grandview, W.Va.; four sons, Andrew "Jink" Brown and wife, Faye, of Ronceverte, Keith Brown and wife, Kathy, of Ronceverte, Jeff Brown and wife, Lisa, of Athens, Ala., and Tim Brown and wife, Jennifer, of Lewisburg; a brother, Roy Massie Sr. of Ronceverte; 16 grandchildren and and 23 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at the Ronceverte Christian Church, 240 Gypsy Heights Road, Ronceverte, with Minister Oscar Schwitzerlette officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Ronceverte.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, at the Longanacre Funeral Home, Fairlea, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Roy Massie Jr., Robert Sams, Charles Ridgeway, Elbert VanBuren, Donnie Campbell and Steve Massie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronceverte Christian Church Building Fund, 240 Gypsy Heights Road, Ronceverte, WV 24970.
