The Sigrid Impola was born May 20, 1914, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Matt Impola and Maria (Mannisto) Impola. Sigrid married Melvin R. Ball on June 14, 1932, and they lived in their home in Crystal Falls for 61 years, until Melvin died in 1994. Together they raised eight children, with one (Muriel) dying shortly after birth.
Sigrid Impola was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great- great grandmother, as well as a fun and supportive friend to many and enjoyed spending long visits with her children. She was a gardener and was well known for her flowers, apples, raspberries, and her delicious pies, jams, and jellies which she shared with her friends and members of St. Marks Church, of which she was an active member.
She was survived by her children; Ronald (Maxine)Ball, Ishpeming, Marilyn (Robert) Fields, Fond du Lac, Wis., Russell (Janet) Ball, Caspian, Mich., Nina Lenz, Hartford, Wis., Lorraine Hamner, Milwaukee Wis., Beverly (James) Wahl, Milwaukee, Velma Cole, Fremont, Mich.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Ball; daughter, Muriel Ball; parents, Matt and Marie Impola; brothers and sisters-in law.
