John Edward Costello died Saturday, April 18 in his home on Wiggins street, Greenport. He was born in Southold May 1, 1853 and spent the greater part of his life in Greenport.

He was employed by the Long Island Railroad for over half a century, and in June, 1927, a certificate of honor was given to him by the company, which he proudly displayed.

Mr Costello was a member of St Agnes R C Church, Holy Name Society and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Nine years ago he retired.

Services were conducted on Tuesday in St Agnes R C Church, the Rev John H King, pastor the church, officiating. Burial followed in St Agnes' Cemetery.

Mr Costello is survived by a son Edward; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr Costello was always a lover of baseball and, previous to his illness, never missed a game.
