Mrs. Irving J. Vahlen, 85, of 3394 E. Washington Ave., a resident of Madison and vicinity all her life, died Friday in a local hospital after a short illness. The former Helen Hansen was born in the Town of Burke in 1886. She was married on June 18, 1908. Her husband died in 1966. Mrs. Vahlen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. Surviving are four brothers, Theodore Hansen of Sun Prairie; Herbert O. Hansen, Route 1, Madison; Lloyd Hansen of Cottage Grove, and Orvin Hansen, 4201 Dwight Dr.; one sister, Mrs. Everett McCoy of Sun Prairie, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Schroeder Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave. after 4 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Carroll N.
