Ethel (Layton) White Obituary
Ethel M. White, 68, of Sarver, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, in the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia, Cabot, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 7, 1942, in Bedford, to the late Harry and Melvie Hillegas Layton, she graduated from Bedford High School.
She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church of Sarver, and a homemaker, who enjoyed working in her flower beds and raising her family. She also enjoyed knitting, especially Steelers blankets, for her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Kenneth G. White; three children and their children, and siblings, Sylvia Jean Grubb, of Everett, Glenn Layton, of Bedford, Patty McDannell, of Osterburg, Bedford County, and David and Steve Layton, both of Bedford.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., (724-335-1234), 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday by her pastor, the Rev. Howard A. Greenfield II.
Private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
