Mrs. Hatch was born Nov. 28, 1917, in Ogden, to Abraham Lincoln Glasmann and Edris Alida Toombs Glasmann. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University. She married George C. Hatch in 1940.
The couple expanded the Glasmann family communication business, Standard Corporation, of which she was president from 1955-1993. The business included the Ogden Standard-Examiner, KUTV and Intermountain Network Inc., which included 94 radio stations in nine mountain states. The couple also co-founded Telecommunications Inc., which grew into the nation's largest cable television company.
Mrs. Hatch was a leading advocate to establish Capitol Reef and Canyonlands national parks, and Antelope Island State Park. She also worked to create and expand the borders of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and expand Arches National Park. She created the nonprofit Utah Environmental Center, aimed at balancing public discussion about Utah's environmental concerns.
Mrs. Hatch served on the boards of civic organizations, including the League of Women Voters, The United Nations Association and the Weber State University Business School Advisory Board. She received an honorary doctor of humanities from Weber State in 1981.
