Reporter. Thurs. Aug. 16, 1979, p. 32:3. Nicholas P. Abler, 74, of 175 Third St., died at 8:40 p.m. Wed. Aug. 15, 1979, at St. Agnes Hospital after a short illness. He was born Jan. 14, 1905, in the Town of Empire, a son of the late Joseph and Catherine Giebel Abler. He was graduated from the former Fond du Lac High School in 1926, and on Aug. 20, 1938, married Irene Twohig at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Armstrong. Mr. Abler farmed in the Town of Osceola until 1939 and served as town clerk for 10 years during that time. He then farmed in the Town of Empire and served as town clerk there for 15 years until the fmaily moved to Fond du Lac in 1958 where he was employed by Mercury Marine for 17 years. Survivors include his wife; four daughters; a foster daughter (names omitted for privacy); seven grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Marie Rodgers of St. Cloud, Fla. Two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Saturday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church where he was a member. The Rev. Edward F. Sippel will officiate, and burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery. Friends of Mr. Abler may call from 3 to 9 p.m Friday at the funeral home.
