CPL Lilo "Sonny" Aldous was a Indirect Fire Infantryman (Mortar) assigned to D Co., 5th Cav., 1st Cavalry Division (AMBL) USARV. Stationed at Camp Evans, Quang Tri, Vietnam. On afternoon of 14 September 1968 D Co., 1st Cav. (AMBL) airlifted into an adjacent LZ and closed on the Hai Long Village. Due to the possibility of the enemy infiltrating the lines during the night, it was decided by operations to overrun the position of the enemy and destroy the effective operations. The guided missile Cruiser USS Boston arrived off coast at dusk and engaged in an all night bombardment of the position.
