CLYDE (RNS) -- Arthur L. Clyburn, 79, of Clyde, former manager of a cotton gin in Hawley, died at 10 p.m. Friday night at West Texas Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hawley Baptist Church.

Roy Phemister, minister of the Clyde Church of Christ, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Glenn Ward, pastor of the Cherry Heights Baptist Church in Clyde. Burial will be in the Hawley Cemetery under direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Clyburn was born March 20, 1893, in Creedmoor and married Marie Winters Dec. 23, 1914, in Hawley. He was a longtime resident of Jones County, moving there as a boy. He lived in Howard County for 20 years. He moved to Clyde in 1959. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Big Spring.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Marie Clyburn of Clyde; one son, L. T. of Pampa; one daughter, Miss Billie Marie Clyburn of Clyde; two brothers, Ray of Rogers, Ark., and Truman of Campbellton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Maj. Clifford Clyburn and Ensign Charles Clyburn were killed during World War II.

Pallbearers will be Arnold Loyd, Avery Faulks, E. F. Olney, D. D. Tedford, Mack Collins and M. C. Rhodes.
