Kenneth Martin Bauer, 77, of Miller, S.D., died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
A brief celebration of his life will be included within the 10:30 a.m. worship service on August 29 at the United Methodist Church in Miller, 610 E. 4th Ave., where he was a member. All are welcome to attend the worship service. Burial will be at a later date in Colorado.
Ken was born April 8, 1933, in Garden City, Mich., to Kenneth and June (Willard) Bauer. He grew up in Garden City and served in the Army from 1951 to 1954. He was stationed in post-war Germany.
He married Lois Penk on November 6, 1954, in Garden City.
Ken's entire work career was in the printing industry, and his excellence in the trade was widely recognized. On retirement, they moved to southern New Mexico, where they lived for 11 years. It was there he became interested in "rock hounding," and made beautiful jewelry while working with rock and gemstones.
In 2005, Ken and Lois moved to Miller, where he discovered the joy of the twice-a-day coffee gathering at G3.
Ken is survived by his wife Lois; daughters, Terri (Leon) Keller of Miller, Debra (Larry) Gaskins of Missouri and Susan Bauer of California; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
