As told me by "Bettie" (Boggess) Watson: On 1 October 1881, Mary Melinda took her daughters to her mother's home some distance away, because of trouble with her husband. Amelia (Boggess) Robinson, her mother, would not harbor them, so they returned home to find John ranting mad. He grabbed a poker iron, beating Mary and daughter Ida to death, while other four daughters looked on. John was sent to and died in the Weston's West Virginia Asylum hospital where he was buried in 1902.

NOTE: David Swiger on 28 MAR 2012 reported, to wit:
Mary is buried along with her daughter Ada in the Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery under the name "Mary M Robinson". Ada is under the name "Adie Robinson". Her parents were later buried next to them in 1893 and 1907.
