Born about 1870. Husband of Mary Ellen Davis. Father of Robert Allen and Marian Allen.

Fred's biological father was Archibald Kennedy who died in a schooner accident somewhere off the coast of Maine. Fred's biological mother was Eunice Ellen Pettengill. After his father's death his mother married Asbury F. Libby.

His brother John Franklin Kennedy lived on Cliff Island for a time. After Archie died, the children were placed in various foster homes. We are unsure if Frank Clark Allen [and Abby W. Allen] actually adopted Fred but we know he was given a home with Frank and his wife in Saco, Maine. --- Mary Jane Michael

Died during the sinking of the PS Portland returning from business in Philadelphia. "Portland sank off of Cape Ann with all hands, the exact number of which cannot be determined, as the only known passenger list went down with the ship. Initial newspaper accounts at the time estimated the loss as from 99 to 118 persons. ... , but present-day estimates are that the Portland was carrying, in total, from 193 to 245 persons, including 63 crew." --- Wikipedia.

The memorial says "drowned from fated Steam-Ship Portland. Nov. 23, 1898." The ship left Boston on the 26th and encountered the gale on 27 Nov 1898 when it sank.
