Elizabeth Rebecca (Becky) Sauble, 82, of the Circle Dot Ranch in Maxwell, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, in Springer. She was born April 7, 1926, in La Mesa, Texas, the daughter of Roy Otis and Irene Stevens Gaines.

At six weeks of age, she moved to New Mexico where she grew up with her brothers on the Points of Rocks Ranch and graduated from the Farley School in 1943. After graduation, Becky spent three years in California working at the Naval Operating Base in Long Beach as a civilian employee. She returned to New Mexico and married Gene Sauble in December 1946, moving to the Circle Dot Ranch, where she lived and worked with her family. She was a charter member of the Silver Spur Cowbelles, a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Maxwell and a member of the NRA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene and her three brothers, Billy, who was killed in action in World War II, Pete and Bob Gaines.

Becky is survived by her sons Bill Sauble and wife Debbie of the Circle Dot Ranch, Roy Sauble and wife Martha of Maxwell; her daughter Gayle Sauble of the Circle Dot Ranch and cousin Catherine Rice of Chico. She is also survied by seven grandchildren: Mark Romero and wife Julie of Pueblo, Colo., Troy Sauble of the Circle Dot Ranch, Tara Foster and husband Mike of Las Cruces, Kristy Higbie and husband Bob of Peoria, Ariz., Carla Enderle and husband D.J. of Monte Vista, Colo., Cathy Sauble of Maxwell and Pat Sauble and wife Lindsay of French Tract. Also surviving her are six great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Friday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Maxwell School Auditorium. A meal will follow the services at the First Baptist Church of Maxwell and will be provided by the church and the Silver Spur Cowbelles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pat Nowlin Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Anne Furguson, P.O. Box 578, Carrizozo, NM?88301 or the Colfax General Long-Term Care Facility in Springer.
