Mrs. Opal WAECHTER, 86, former Akron resident, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Alfran nursing home in Warsaw. She had been ill three years.
Born July 31, 1885, in Roann, she was the daughter of James and Laura POTTER SHOWALTER. Her marriage was Feb. 11, 1904, in Rochester, to Cornelius "Nick" WAECHTER. He died in 1942. She was a lifetime resident of the Akron area and a member of the Akron Church of God.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ben (Theoma) BARNETT, Akron; Mrs. Raymond (Elizabeth) MILLER, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. Raymond (Jane) LANTZ, Fort Wayne; Mrs. A. L. (Laura) MINELLI, Elkhart; three sons, Walter [WAECHTER], of Akron; Telford [WAECHTER], North Manchester, and Max [WAECHTER], Elkhart; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren. Four sisters and two brothers preceded in death.
Final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Sheetz funeral home in Akron. The Rev. J. E. THOMASON will officiate. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
