MRS. W.H. NEIBERT DIED THIS MORNING.

"Mrs. Neibert is dead". This sentence spoken on the streets of the city this forenoon came as a bolt of thunder from a clear sky and brought sorrow to the hearts of all who heard it.

Mrs. Elizabeth Neibert died this morning at her home on East Lowe street at 7:30 o'clock after on a few hours of serious illness. She had not been in the best of health for several weeks but relatives and friends thought she was gaining a little each day.

She was about her household duties last evening about 5:30 when she complained to her eldest son Glen of a pain in her head. She was carried at once to her bed,and before she was laid upon it she complained of the pain in her back and immediately lost consciousness. Physicians were summoned but to no avail; and she answered the call of death this morning without arousing from the stupor into which she had fallen.

Her sudden death coming so soon after that of her husband William H. Neibert who died on July 10, and for whom she had mourned unceasingly is a severe blow to the five children who survive. They have been within five months bereft of parents, both of whom were unusually affectionate and solicitous for their comfort and welfare.

The children are as follows: Thomas G.; William; Byron; Fred and Nellie. Mrs. Neibert's aged father Frederic Breckenmaker, of Hummelston,Pa. and four brothers, Gus of Hummelstown, Pa., Fred of Villisca, Ia.,Jacob of Kirkwood, Ill., and Thomas Breckenmaker of this city and one sister, Mrs. Anna (sic. a/k/a Anne) Harris of this city are left to mourn her sudden death.

Elizabeth Breckenmaker Neibert was born in Mechanicsburg, Pa., on November 20, 1857 (sic. 1858 per headstone inscription), where she grew to young womanhood. It was there on March 18, 1882 that she became the bride of William H. Neibert, a native of Washington county Maryland. In 1883 Mr. and Mrs. Neibert moved to Fairfield and in the years that have passed, both have taken an active and prominent part in the life of the city.

It was here that the family have been raised and it was at the Neibert home that many Jefferson county people have found a pleasant smile and a hearty welcome for many years past. Hence the death of her husband friends have noticed a change in Mrs. Neibert and she has gradually given way under the shock.

Mrs. Neibert was one of the most prominent club and lodge women in the city being affiliated with Chapter C of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Fairfield Chapter No. 39, O.E.S.; Fairfield Chapter Pythian Sisters; Hawkeye Rebekah Lodge, Forrest City Homestead, Brotherhood of American Yeomen; New Hope Lodge D. of H.; and George Strong Corps, W. R. C.

The funeral will be held Sunday at two o'clock p.m. at the Methodist church of which Mrs. Neibert has been a member for many years. Dr. Thomas Osborn will conduct the service and the remains will be laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.

FAIRFIELD

Death of Mrs. Neibert,

Fairfield people were shocked Thursday morning when it was announced that Mrs. Elizabeth Neibert had passed away at 7:30 o'clock that morning at her home on East Lowe street. Mrs. Neibert was 54 years of age and her death follows closely the death of her husband, ex-sheriff of Jefferson county, William H. Neibert, who died on July 10, 1911. Since Mr. Neibert's death Mrs. Neibert has gradually failed and it is belief of her many friends that she died of a broken heart. Five children are left to mourn her death: Thomas G., William, Byron, Fred and Nellie. An unusually large number of friends in Fairfield and Jefferson county are mourning with the orphaned children.
