The first part of Mary's life was difficult. She was placed in St. John's Orphanage in Utica after her parents abandoned her. She remained there for 11 years. In 1941, she graduated from Utica Catholic Academy.
She married Woodrow (Toby) Wilson Secord on November 18,1942. Toby was tragically killed after being hit by a car in 1945. They had one son, Brian Toby Secord.
On March 26, 1951, she married William Blaine Kelly in Historic Old St. Johns Church. He passed away in 1997.
She was employed for 35 years by the Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY. After her retirement from the base, she was employed for many years by the Joseph A Giruzzi Company in Utica. Surviving are her daughter, Karen M. Kelly(and Craig A Beers), Sherman, CT; son, Brian T. Secord, New Hartford, NY; grandson, Ryan T. Secord, Florida; and great-grandson, Nicholas R. Secord.
Mary was a huge Yankees fan her entire life Most recently while living with her daughter in CT, her best friend was a yellow Labrador Retriever named "Helen".
She was a long time member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Church in Utica.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of St. Joseph Nursing Home. Entombment is in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
