Russell A. Sandt, 90, Pennside, passed away Jan. 3, 2011, at Reading Hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Reading, a son of the late Wilbert and Mabel (Leiby) Sandt. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jane B. (Hartlieb) Sandt.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a 1938 graduate of Reading High School. He worked at various roofing companies and sheet metal companies, retiring in 1985 from Sheet Metal Workers Local 19. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and hiking on Neversink Mountain every Saturday morning.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Craig Sandt and Scott Sandt; and a grandson, Bryan Sandt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert, Carl and Donald Sandt.

Funeral services will be held at the Auman Funeral Home, Reiffton, on Friday at 1 p.m. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Friday from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Forest Hills Memorial Park. www.aumansinc.com
