Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery Friday at 2 p.m. for former West Side resident Ivan Ralph Ballard, 76. The Rev. Theodore Wehunt, pastor of the Taft Church of God, will officiate at the services. Mr. Ballard was born in McComb, Mo., July 16, 1917 and passed away in Bakersfield Tuesday. He was raised and educated in the Derby Acres and Fellows area. He had worked for many years as a truck driver and equipment operator. He was a member of the Teamsters Local # 186 in El Monte. His survivors include his wife, Pearl Ballard of Bakersfield; four children Myrna White of Las Vegas, NV., Larry Ballard of Bakersfield, Charlotte Brown of Concord and James Hudgens of Bakersfield; a brother, Eldon Ballard of Red Bluff; a sister, Lorena Root of Sacramento; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Friends may pay their respects Thursday until 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
