Brooks, 77, died 2:10 p.m. Sunday,
July 4, 1999, in a Logan
hospital following a long ill.
ness.
Born Sept. 10, 1921, in
Wyoming County, she was the
daughter of the late Bert D.
Canterbury and Nancy Stennett
Canterbury.
Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker
and a 15-year employee
of Raleigh Wyoming Mining
Co. in Glen Rogers. She was a
34-year resident of Logan and
was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by
a brother, R. Jack Canterbury;
and two sisters, Ruth C. Greer
and Berna Harvey.
Survivors include her husband.
of 54 years, Jarvey
Brooks; a special person, David
Vance, who was like a son to
Mrs. Brooks, and his wife, Dee,
and daughter, Kathryn, all of
Logan; a brother, Tom Canterbury
and his wife, Jane, of
Daniels; three sisters, Marie
Canterbury and Madeline
Beaver, both of Beckley, and
Georgia Powell and her husband,
Joe L., of Decatur, Ga.;
several nieces and nephews;
and special friends, Junior and
Mary Vance, Delilah Adkins,
Pearl Newman and Blanche
Shanklin.
Graveside rites will be 11
a.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge
Memorial Gardens Mausoleum,
with Pastor Robert Jennings
and a special friend, the Rev.
George Graham, officiating.
There will be no visitation.
