He was a native of Scotland, was educated at the University of Edinborough. Resided in Nashville about thirty years. Died May 22, 1833.
In testimony of their affection and gratitude and profound respect the citizens of Nashville have erected this simple monument under the deep conviction that the memory of his virtues and active goodness will be cherished long after the sepulchral tablet shall be obliterated and forgotten.
