Margaret Elizabeth Farmer, born February 14, 1846, was the daughter of John Lawrence Farmer and Nancy Mary Shockley. She came to Mercer County from Carroll County, Va., when she was ten years old. She married William Raven Kinzer in Mercer County, on April 5, 1866. They lived on their farm at Matoaka and were the parents of five sons and three daughters. Elizabeth stayed on the farm with her children, until they were grown and never remarried. Elizabeth died September 20, 1922.
