Frances M. Sword was born to Francis Marion Sword and Susan Clark, in Pike, Kentucky. She was married to Wilburn William Buckley, on June 15, 1850, in Pike, Kentucky. They had at least eleven children: James W., Wilburn B., Martha Ann, Mary Jane, Elizabeth A., Malinda Caroline, Sarah D., Julia L., Sidney Pierce, John Kenner, and Josephine. She was widowed in 1888, and around 1902 moved in with her daughter Mary Jane Powell, in Avard, Woods, Oklahoma, where she passed away on August 12, 1909.
