Joe L. Tays, 82, of Asenath Street died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at his home.
He retired from Engelking Pattern and also had worked at Golden Foundry.
He attended Free Methodist Church and was a member of Bartholomew County Senior Center. He was an avid fox hunter.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Chet Martin officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or Free Methodist Church.
Mr. Tays was born in Monterey, Tenn., Aug. 28, 1918, the son of Jessee and Mary Norris Tays. He married Ruby Bohannon May 27, 1939. She survives.
Also surviving are sons, James L. Tays of Columbia, S.C., and Jack L. Tays of Columbus; a sister, Lillie Swartz of Florida; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Woodrow, Henry and James Tays; and sisters, Leora Ledbetter, Louida Selby, Ella Foster, Deloris Tays and Sarah Hall.
