KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY AS A HOUSTON POLICE OFFICER

Troy Alan Blando was born in Bussac, France on July 31, 1959 and passed away on May 19, 1999. Officer Blando was a graduate of the July 2, 1979 Police Academy Class #87. He was also an accomplished TCLEOSE Certified Master Peace Officer and the 1982 recipient for Officer of the Year Award from the Exchange Club.

Officer Troy Blando was shot and killed while investigating auto thefts. He was checking automobiles for stolen license plates outside of a motel. He exited his vehicle and approached a suspect, who opened fire. During the exchange of gunfire Officer Blando was struck in the chest. He was able to make it back to his vehicle and call for backup and responding officers arrested the suspect near the scene. Officer Blando died while being transported to a local hospital.

The suspect was convicted of murder and was sentenced to death and was executed May 15, 2013.

His convicted murderer, Jeffrey Demond Williams, was executed on May 15th, 2013. Texas no longer offers last meal requests. His killer was unrepentent to the end. His last words were: You Clown Police, You're gonna' stop killing innocent kids."
