Phyllis J. Yaste, age 87, of Oregon, IL died Friday (September 18, 2009) at 11:17 a.m. at Oregon Health Care Center.
Phyllis was born March 20, 1922 in Huntington to Paul and Nina (Geiger) Scheer. She married Joseph R. Yaste in June of 1948 in Huntington, and he preceded her in death in April of 1997.
She received her RN degree from St. Joe School of Nursing in Fort Wayne and was a surgical nurse at Huntington Hospital. Phyllis was a U.S. Army lieutenant and toured in France during WWII. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, IN.
She is survived by two sons – David Yaste of Fort Wayne and Christopher (Janice) Yaste of McDonough, GA; three daughters – Mary (Tim) Jorgenson of Oregon, IL, Virginia (William) Brenner of Phoenix, AZ, and Nina (Carl) Moore of Tulsa, OK.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday (September 25, 2009), at Bailey- Love Mortuary, with the Reverend James Shaffer will be officiating.
