Clara Murva Booth, 101, of Arvada, Colo., passed away December 5, 2010 at Mountain Vista Health Center in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

Murva was born to Frederick John Penna and Anna Goldena McPherson Penna on October 25, 1909 in Broomfield, Colo. When her father became involved with road construction, the family moved to Kremmling, Colo., and Murva attended several schools on the Western Slope as the road construction crew moved around. In 1927, Murva boarded with an aunt in Arvada, Colo., and graduated from Arvada High School in 1928.

After graduating, Murva worked as a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward in Denver, Colo., until her marriage on July 20, 1930 to Leavitt Addison Booth, who she had met during her senior year at Arvada High School. Murva and Leavitt shared just over 69 years of marriage until Leavitt's death on February 12, 2000.

In the early years of their marriage, Murva and Leavitt lived on Leavitt's family ranch in Coal Creek Canyon, Colo. They later resided on their lower farm in Arvada, Colo.; then moved to their home in Crescent Park, Coal Creek Canyon, Colo. During these years, Murva put her bookkeeping skills to use for the family ranching business and learned the fine arts of bread making, canning, and cooking for crowds. In her "free time" she loved to read and excelled in doing ribbon-winning crochet work.

Murva was instrumental in organizing the Colorado Cowbelles, serving as President and in other offices and as Chairman of their Beef Promotion program. She also belonged to the Arvada Rebekah Lodge in which she held many local and state offices and was State Chairman of the IOOF/Rebekah Blood Bank with Bonfils and the State Eye Bank for over 25 years. In addition, she was a member of the Enterprise Grange of Arvada, Colo. Murva thoroughly enjoyed her participation in these activities and treasured many lifelong friendships with people she met through these organizations.

She is survived by her children George Leavitt Booth, Murva Ann Rodgers, and Clara Caroline Morris; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held December 10, 2010 at Olingers Crown Hill Mortuary.

Burial followed at Arvada Cemetery in Arvada, Colo.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Vista Health Center, 4800 Tabor St., Wheat Ridge, Colo., 80033.
