Claire grew up and attended school in Kearney, Nebraska. He moved to Hastings in 1941 and worked for Debus and Metz Baking Company until he retired in 1984. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Lucille Cramer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1946. He was a member of the V.F.W. Club, American Legion, D.A.V. and of theTeamster Union of Omaha.
Claire preceded in death by his parents, twin sister, Connie and sister, Margie.
