He came to Iowa as a small child in the fall of 1867 and has resided in Lucas county, on a farm and in Chariton since that time. His parents, one sister, Grace, and one brother, Marcus, have preceded him in death.

Those left to mourn his passing are one brother, Fred G. Abell, of Chariton, two sisters, Mrs. Ella N. Lewis, of Chariton, and Mamie Duckworth, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Several nieces and nephews residing in and around Chariton also survive.

Mr. Abell was a lover of nature and was found tramping through the woods on many occasions. He was well known in Lucas county and is mourned, not only by those of his immediate family, but also by a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Donald McKay, of the Christian church, were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Beardsley funeral home, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
