    Gladys Brandner Nelson, 85, of Sheridan died Sunday evening, May 5th at her home.
    Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8th, at the Sheridan United Methodist Church with Rev. Sally Chipman officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Larson-Gabel Funeral Home Ltd., 335 West Church St., Sheridan, IL 60551-0027, phone (815) 496.2003.
    She was born November 6, 1916 in Earlville to August L. and Bertha (Mickelson) Brandner. She married Maynard L. Nelson, December 25, 1942, in California. Her husband died November 12, 1972. She attended Hall High School, L.P.O. Junior College and received a bachelor degree in education from Northern Illinois University. She taught at the Maple View School in rural Newark and then for the Newark Grade School for 38 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women & Hope Circle, Sheridan American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Friends of the Charles Phillips Library, the Illinois and Kendall County and Retired Teachers Association.
    She is survived by her son, Kim Nelson of Sheridan; two brothers, George Brandner of Ladd and Harlan (Marguerite) Brandner of Ladd; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maynard; two daughters in infancy; a sister, Lorene Brandner; a brother, Wilbur Brandner; and a nephew, Larry Brandner.
    Pallbearers will be Glenn Brandner, Brian Brandner, Robert Brandner, John Morahn, Kurt Tirevold and Gary Fruland.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Forth and James Brandner.
    Memorials may be directed to the Sheridan United Methodist Church.
