Grant H. Palmer, a resident of Corona, died Jan. 9, 1995, at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside. He was 83.

Born Nov. 30, 1911, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, he moved to the Corona area in 1944 from Devore. He graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1930 and San Bernardino Junior College in 1933. While working at the San Bernardino County Hospital, he attended the University of Redlans and graduated in 1938.

In June of 1940 he went to work in the research department of Sunkist Growers as a biochemist and retired after 35 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Corona since 1954, past president of Toastmasters, served on the Temescal Boy Scout Council, was past president of Kiwanis Club of Corona in 1963, past chairman of the San Gorgonio Section American Chemical Society in 1968 and was past Master of Temescal Lodge 314 in 1953. He served as secretary, officer's coach and as candidate's coach for the lodge 314.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Thelma B. Palmer of Corona; a niece Joanne Hitchcock of Meadow Vista; a newphew, James D. Palmer Jr. of Menlo Park; a cousin, Margaret Reed of Lancaster and several great nieces and nephews.

Services were Friday, Jan. 13, at Thomas Miller Mortuary. Private interment was held.
