Jesse O'Neal Acree, III, -- A native and lifelong resident of Mobile died peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2011. He was born September 20, 1922, the son of Jesse O'Neal Acree, Jr. and Emily Roe Acree. He was a parishioner of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and was the long time owner of J.O. Acree Company. He was a member of a mystic society, past president of the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo (who hired Roy Martin as its first judge) and a charter member of both the Mirror Lake Racquet Club and the Ancient Mariners. He was predeceased by his first wife, Kathryn Harrison Acree; daughter, Mary Brooks Acree; and his sister, Mary Emily Acree Drewry. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Quackenbush Acree; his sons, Jesse O'Neal Acree, IV (Rita) of Moore, SC; Roy Roe Acree (June) of Mobile; and his daughter, Kathryn "Kit" Acree Arbour (Vince) also of Mobile; and his eight grandsons: John Brooks Acree, Harrison O'Neal Acree, Paul Franklin Acree, Thomas Gleason Acree; Roy Roe Acree, Jr.; Sidney Vincent Arbour, IV (Marissa), Joseph O'Neal Arbour, and Jonathan Bryant Arbour; and two great-grandchildren, Edward Russell Acree and Emma Louise Acree. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Monday, January 10, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, and one hour before the Mass on Tuesday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Old Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jesse O'Neal Acree, III to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 3704 Springhill Ave., Mobile, AL 36608, or your favorite charity.
