Helen was born in Omak, Wash., the fifth of seven children born to Walter and Ruth (Helm) Cannon. She met and married Joseph Darcy, the love of her life, in Nyssa in 1940. During World War II, Helen worked for a time as a welder in the Portland shipyards until she and Joe started their family. She had three children, Sherry (Darcy) Abrahamson, Robert, and Jim. In 1962 Helen went to work at the Wilsonville post office, eventually retiring in 1982 to pursue her passion of camping and fishing with her husband, Joe. Helen was preceded in death by Joe in December 1986; and daughter, Sherry, in May 2004. She is survived by her sons, Robert and Jim; daughter-in-law, Charlene; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and younger brother, Robert Cannon of Paradise, Calif. Helen's ashes will be mixed with Joe's and scattered next spring. At her request, no funeral or memorial will be held. Donations in Helen's name may be made to the American Cancer Society . Grandma Helen will always be remembered for her mild manner and loving heart. We will miss you.
