Shirley A. Szabo of Avalon Springs, Coolspring Township, formerly of Stambaugh Avenue in Sharon, died at 8:12 a.m. Monday (1-10-11) in Avalon Springs. She was 93.

Mrs. Szabo was born July 30, 1917, in Kane, Pa., to Donald and Estelle Becker Aggers.

Shirley was a graduate of Kane High School.

During World War II, she worked at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

She attended Methodist churches in Sharon and was an avid golfer, having belonged to several area ladies golf leagues.

She also enjoyed tennis and bowling.

Shirley married her husband, Edmund S. Szabo on Aug. 8, 1946; he preceded her in death June 11, 2001.

She is survived by a son, Edmund S. Szabo Jr. and his wife Agi, Hermitage; two sisters, Jean Drobney, Sharon; and Marion "Tweet" Jones, Austintown, Ohio; and a son-in-law, Terry Vought, Aiken, S.C.

She also leaves two grandchildren, Abby Ellis and Emma Vought; and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Ben Ellis.

Shirley was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn S. Vought; a sister, Lois Merlin; and four brothers, Donald, William, Frank and Fred Aggers.
