Robert W. Bittner, 73, of Sterling, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at CGH Medical Center. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, for 20 years, retiring as a supervisor.
Mr. Bittner was born June 22, 1937, in Sterling, the son of William R. and Jennie (Knox) Bittner. He married Ann O. Ethridge on Sept. 19, 1959, in Ohio.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Tim Bittner of Rock Falls, and Tom (Sylvia O'Bryan) Bittner, Troy (Lisa) Bittner, and Tye Bittner, all of Sterling; one daughter, Tricia (Kevin) Cook of Sterling; one brother, Richard Bittner of Sterling; one sister, Carolyn (C.J.) Campbell of Peoria; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
