Cedric Putnam Drake, 80, died Friday, July 24, at his home in Albuquerque, N.M.
Services were to be held in Albuquerque.
Mr. Drake was born May 18, 1918, in Hamilton, the son of Clarence P. and Daisy Bloodworth Drake. He was a Baptist and had lived all over the world. While in the service, he was awarded the Oak Cluster Leaves for performing acts of heroism several times in the Southwest Pacific. He was a bomber navigator. He was also awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the medal for meritorious achievement.
He was married to Dorothy Shinn, who preceded him in death in 1977. Four of his five children also preceded him in death in a tragic plane crash at a family reunion Aug. 20, 1983, in Tucumcari, N.M. They were Susie Donna, Richard, Leo and Cedric Jr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Arleigh Jo Drake, and a brother, Ralph Bloodworth Drake.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Boyd Drake of Albuquerque, a son, Tom Drake of Germany; three sisters, Barbara Dean Simnacher of Olton, Annie Nell Bell of Hart and Claryce Richardson of Portales, N.M.; several grandchildren and great_grandchildren and many cousins in the Hamilton area.
