He was born Oct. 2, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., to Chester Carr and Myrtle (Carr) Meyer.
Bob was raised in Bruce Crossing, Mich., graduating from Ewen High School in 1945. He enjoyed sports, watching games and taking part in them. He served in the United States Army from 1946-47 and was stationed in Japan.
Bob married the former Dorothy Bergeson in Bruce Crossing on March 1, 1950. They moved to Detroit, Mich., in 1952, residing there for 30 years. Bob worked as a firefighter in Detroit until his retirement.
The couple resided in Menominee and Naples, Fla., before moving to Peshtigo. Dorothy preceded him in death on July 2, 2001. Bob was an avid racquetball player and enjoyed working out at the YMCA.
Bob is survived by two sisters, Bette Popps of Bruce Crossing and Mabel (Norm) Niemi of Ewen, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Don (Shirley) Bergeson of Peshtigo; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Carr and Jim Meyer.
Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home, Marinette, after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday in the funeral home. The Rev. Douglas Schoen of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Menominee, will officiate.
Burial will be in Peshtigo Riverside Cemetery.
