Funeral service for Allen Stricklin, 89, of Decatur will be Friday, January 14, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Martin officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 13, 2011, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Stricklin, who died Monday, January 10, 2011, at his residence, was born September 5, 1921, in Decatur to James Allen Stricklin and Rosie Viola Tangle Stricklin. He was retired from the State of Alabama Welcome Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie B. Stricklin; and his daughter, Donia Parker.

He is survived by his son, Robert Allen Stricklin and wife, Sherlene; daughter, Sheila Holmes and husband, Marshall, all of Decatur; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, J.V. Stricklin of Huntsville; and one sister, Christina Goodman of Ocoee, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Marty Tidwell, Jason Kennedy, Brett Kennedy, Troy Smith, Ricky Borden and Richard Kirby.
