Mrs. Grace Grizzle Abercrombie, age 78, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Abercrombie was born in Suches, Georgia, on February 29, 1932, a daughter of the late Lewis and Rebecca Milberry Jarrard Grizzle. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a homemaker. Grace loved to garden, enjoyed reading, and was of the Baptist faith. Preceding her in death besides her parents, was her husband Garnie; and three sons: Larry, Jerry, and Kenneth Abercrombie; brothers, Grady, Garnie and Richard Grizzle; sisters, Mary Pickelsimer, Grapelle Pickelsimer, Lizzie Carder and Julia Grizzle.
Surviving family members include grandson and his wife, Barry and Jenny Abercrombie, of Blairsville; great granddaughters: Callie Abercrombie and Savannah Abercrombie. Several nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Hood officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Cindy Strickland. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Zack Stafford, Richard Stafford, Jerry Webb, Dave Grizzle, Kevin Grizzle, and Mike Crenshaw. Burial was in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
