Mrs. C. De Bruyn died at 9:30 Monday evening July 17, 1933 at her home in Hospers, after having been ill in bed since June 3rd with asthma and heart trouble.
Nancy Van Kekerix was born at Blackland [Hoogblokland], South Holland, Netherlands, on Feb 19, 1853, and was 80 years, 7 months and 2 days old when she died.
On March 14, 1873 she was married to Cornelius De Bruyn and in 1889 they came to America with their seven children and located at Orange City. A year later they bought a farm 7 miles northwest of Hospers, where they lived until Feb., 1908 when they moved to Hospers. Here they lived together until Dec 19, 1919 when Mr. De Bruyn died.
Mrs. DeBruyn is survived by ten children: Maggie (Mrs J. Siersma of Edgerton Minn.); Rev. J.C. DeBruyn of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Grace, (Mrs. R. Van Kalsbeek of Hospers); Sarah (Mrs. A. Teoring of Bruce, S.D.); Sam DeBruyn of Sheldon; Coba, (Mrs. D. Vander Berg of Hospers); Lena (Mrs. R. J. Ronkema of Woodstock, N.D.); Mrs. Arta Kuiper of Hospers and Nancy and Cornelia DeBruyn at home. One son died in infancy in the Netherlands. Two brothers, James and Jacob Van Kekerix of Rock Valley, two sisters, Mr. James Noordt of Rock Valley and Mrs. Dick Rozenboom [Rozeboom] of Sioux Center; 3 sisters still live in the Netherlands and also survive her. Also 37 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Christian Ref. church with Rev. A. B. Voss officiating in the Holland and English language. G grandsons acted as pallbearers and burial was made in the Pres. cemetery of Hospers next to the reamins of her husband.
