POCATELLO - Norma Jane Barley, 88, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by loving family.

She was born March 10, 1922, in Marion, Indiana, the first of four children to Harry Ross Robinson and Mary Hilda Ilene (Walker) Robinson.

Norma grew up in Southern California and attended Mark Keppel High School, where she met her future husband, Ted Richard Barley. They were married October 3, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had three children, Gayle, Connie, and Ted Jr., that they raised in Monterey Park, California, and Lake Arrowhead, California.

Ted and Norma moved to Pocatello, Idaho, in 1978, when Ted retired. On October 18, 2003 they were sealed in the Idaho Falls, Idaho, LDS Temple. Ted passed away January 31, 2005.

She loved to jitterbug and swing dance. If there was music playing she wanted to teach someone to dance. Some of our favorite memories are hearing mom and her sisters sing while their mother accompanied them on piano.

Mom was the happiest when a trip was planned, especially going back to California to visit family and friends. She loved to go on cruises and sharing the experiences with her family. She loved to read and she could hold her own talking about politics.

Norma is survived by her children, Gayle (Tim) Brosnahan, Salt Lake City, Utah, Connie (Duane) Harmon, Pocatello, Idaho, and Ted (Linda) Barley, Farmington, Utah; a sister, Doris Tice, West Covina, California; 22 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by, besides her husband, her parents, a brother, Donald Robinson, a sister, Dorothy Donaldson, a grandson, Stephen Brosnahan, granddaughter, Karen J. Brosnahan, and great-granddaughter, Karen G. Brosnahan.

We would like to thank Caring Hearts Assisted Living and the Caregivers for all the love and care they gave our mom while she was living in her own home. Also, the care she received from Barton Creek Assisted Living in Bountiful, Utah, where she resided for the past 11 months.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011, at the LDS Pocatello Seventh Ward, corner of West Tyhee Road and North Moonglow Lane, with Bishop Paul Bastian officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
