Lillian Margaret Mahr was born on June 14, 1919, at her parents house in rural Boyd, WI, the daughter of Theodore and Magdalena (Seidl) Mahr. She was raised in the Boyd area and received her education at St. Joseph's Catholic School. After completing her education, she worked several years for Presto Industries during World War II. She was united in marriage to Frank Gwiazdon On September 26, 1944 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Boyd. In addition to being a farmer's wife, Lillian worked outside her home as a housekeeper, and in her later years, she volunteered at the Thorp Senior Center. She lived in her home in Thorp until moving to Miller Alternative Care five years ago.
In her spare time, Lillian enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, playing cards, and dancing to old time Polka/Waltz music. She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and its' Parish Council of Catholic Women.
Lillian is survived by her five children: Kathleen (Bob) Schumacher of Black Creek, WI, Mariette (David) Grimes of Oxford, GA, Paula (Ron) Licht of Chippewa Falls, WI, Francis "Chubb" (Deb) Gwiazdon of Thorp, and Timothy Gwiazdon of Appleton, WI; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother: Donald (Vi) Mahr of Boyd and one sister-in-law: Caroline Gwiazdon of Thorp, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, on September 27, 1973, one son: Lambert Gwiazdon, one grandson: Michael Gwiazdon; three brothers: Herman, Leo, and Ted; and four sisters: Laura, Rosetta, Marian, and Dorothy.
