DEATH OF A PIONEER CITIZEN

At the Age of Eighty-Three, Mr. Samuel Fisher Passes Away at His Home on Water Street.

The city lost another good citizen when Mr. Samuel Fisher died at his home on Water street Friday night at 8:25 o'clock. Mr. Fisher was 83 years and 11 months old and had been in feeble health quite awhile.

Mr. Fisher was one of the pioneer settlers of Ellis county, coming here in the fall of 1875 from Michigan. He located on a farm about six miles from the city and resided there until about twenty years ago when he moved to the city. Most of the time since then he and Mrs. Fisher had made their home with their daughter, Mrs. Arthur Mackoy.

Mr. Fisher was born in Ohio on June 16, 1826, and resided in that state until he was a young man when he moved to Michigan, coming from that state to Texas. He was married three times and is survived by a widow and eight children. The children are W.W. Fisher of Lansing, Mich.; C.C. Fisher of Ellis county; F.F. Fisher of Marietta, Okla.; J.J. Fisher of Flagstaff, Ari.; M.M. Fisher of Prescott, Ari.; A.A. Fisher of Douglass, Ari.; Mrs. Florence Everetts of Clinton, Okla.; and Mrs. Arthur Mackoy of Waxahachie.

Mr. Fisher had been a member of the Odd Fellows and Methodist church about fifty years. He was a devoted christian, a good citizen and was esteemed by a large circle of friends.

The funeral will take place at the residence tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The interment will be made at the city cemetery.
