Mary Jeanette Stom was born on September 19, 1846 on Pickard Street in Ellery, New York, a daughter of Adam Stom and Sarah M. Pickard. She lived in Ellery her entire life. Jeanette, as she was called, married Henry Wheeler, a veteran of the Civil War, probably in Ellery, after war. In 1867, Jeanette gave birth to her only child, a daughter, Emma Gertrude Wheeler. Jeanette died on October 23, 1875 at the age of 29. She was buried with her parents at Red Bird Cemetery. Today, she shares a large monument with her parents.
