FUNERAL SET
FOR MONDAY
Jess McNeely, 71, 1009 1/2 West Stevens St., died yesterday at a local hospital.
McNeely was born in Chico, Tex., and farmed near Floydada, Tex, until moving to Roswell in 1931 where he remained until he returned to Texas three years later. He moved to Carlsbad in 1955, coming from Amarillo, Tex.
McNeely was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Baptist Church. During World War I he served overseas with an artillery unit.
Survivors include his wife, Vada; a son, A.D. McNeeley, Carlsbad; a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Gough, Carlsbad; a brother, W.O. McNeely, Floydada; two sisters, Mrs. George Criswell, Los Banos, Calif. and Mrs. Ida Denny, Petrolia, Tex.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. tomorrow at West Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C.C. Meadows of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be rendered by the ROTC unit of Carlsbad High School.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Martin, Joe Weatherley, Jerry Haragan, Ray Barton, Gene Roberts, and Dick Turner.
