Child struck by auto; dies
GREENVILLE—A seven-year-old Greenville boy was killed Monday afternoon when he was struck by a car on Youngman Road at Velma Drive. According to the Montcalm County Sheriff's Department, Dean Howard Grimm, 678012 S Youngman Rd . was killed when he jumped into the road in front of a car driven by Linda K Weger, 34. 10968 Wise Rd . Greenville He is the third victim to die on Montcalm County roads this year. There had been four fatalities at this time in 1977 A spokesman for the sheriff s department said Mrs. Weger was southbound on Youngman Road when Dean jumped into the road from the west shoulder Witnesses at the scene said Mrs. Weger tried to swerve to miss the boy. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Dean was born April 22, 1970 and was a second grade student at Baldwin Heights Elementary School He is survived by his parents, Richard and Constance Grimm, two
sisters. Denise and Dawn, and two brothers, Daniel and Dick, and a sister-in-law, Theresa, all of Greenville. grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Howard McDaniel. Manton, his great-grandmother. Mrs. Esta Houser, Traverse City; and two aunts and uncles. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Cobb. Cedar Springs, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis McDaniel, Manton Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p. m. at Brown-Teman Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken Karlzen officiating Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the funeral home.
